Mid Afternoon, Mid August, Texas 102°F
An installation featuring two large scale video projections and sound, the work aims to offer a glimpse into the artist’s experience as an only child during her summer holidays from school. As reprieve from the blazing heat, she spends hours indoors being as quiet as possible, so as not to disturb her mother while she rests before going to work overnight. The quiet, claustrophobic tension of these days reaches palpable levels the girl moves through the house, accompanied by the din of fans used to both cool the house and to provide a white noise that helps her mother sleep.
